July Bingo Card: Hall of Shame

There comes a point when we have to realize that America's branding changes depending on who's in power. The only issue is that we don't change it accordingly because we hold onto the hope that one day the Pledge of Allegiance will actually be a priority for all those who take a position of power.

So instead of using absolutes, let me ask you this: When has the United States been "one nation, indivisible, and justice for all"?

If your answer doesn't include those who ☝️ migrated to the U.S., ✌️ people of color, ☝️✌️ the LGBTQ+ community, or ✌️✌️ people with disabilities, then you might need to read the quote again. Mind you, nowhere in the Declaration does it specify who “all” includes. “All” is defined as “the whole quantity or extent of a particular group or thing.” The word only becomes specific when something comes after it. For example: “justice for all U.S. citizens.” Get it?

Do you understand how ironic it is that migrants are being thrown out by people whose land wasn’t even theirs to begin with? Phroggers are crazy.

I know you hear this a lot, but there is never a bad time to fight for equality, justice, safety, and understanding. I know it seems like you're just one person and that your existence doesn’t really change anything, but it does. The only way we can make a difference is by fighting together.

Unite people in unfair situations. A bigger group can make bigger waves than a small one. We need to start by having hard conversations with stubborn people. We can strike and protest, but who are we actually talking to if not directly? Let’s educate the ones who only think about themselves. Not everyone is a good person, but if we don’t try, nothing will ever change.

Sure, progression fluctuates. But as a society, we’ve made small changes that contributed to the bigger picture, and now it’s being taken away. There are still so many things left to fight for that affect all of us, and we cannot do that by separating ourselves.

If we want to talk about making America great and keeping the branding real, then let’s make people feel safe and equal. Let’s not judge people by their religion, culture, abilities, or the color of their skin, but celebrate them for their differences.

I’m only one person, but I hope this Bingo can help educate people about the struggles others face in their home countries, the journey it takes to get here, and the feeling of being unwanted in a place that’s supposed to be better.

So with that said, enjoy July’s Hall of Shame Bingo.
